Cockburn Gateway - Your Winter Wardrobe Has Arrived!

Cockburn Gateway

This post is sponsored by Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre.

There's a definite chill in the air, Perth people, I'm thinking that Autumn is well and truly here with Winter on its way.  When I lived in the UK, winter was something to dread as it was damp and REALLY cold.  Perth winters aren't that scary though, which means you don't have to rug up like you're going skiing.

Perth winter makes it so much easier to stay stylish and Cockburn Gateway is making it easier still with FREE style sessions in store right now.

Cockburn Gateway invited me down to check out the installation and have a chat with Des about his must have pieces for AW16.

I'm not going to give away all of Des's style secrets in this post, you'll have to head down to Cockburn Gateway and ask him yourself, but I am going to share his style philosophy which I wholeheartedly agree with.

"Shop outside of your comfort zone"

It's so easy to become stuck in a rut with your style, whether your time poor, or just don't know what suits you anymore.  So many of us shop at the same stores and don't go into different ones because we're afraid they are..

  • too young for us!
  • too expensive for us!
  • of a certain style that's just not me
  • for the older woman
  • only for skinny people
  • too trendy
The list goes on and on.  I wrote about this subject here and I honestly think that there is something for everyone in every shop.

Des has put together an incredible 20 piece capsule wardrobe and you'll be amazed to see the outfit combinations he's come up with.  This is his list of key pieces for AW16, all of which you can find in stores at Cockburn Gateway.

  • Skinny Jeans (try Target, Crossroads, and Katies for the most flattering, high waisted versions
  • Over the Knee Boots - you don't have to be like Julia Roberts in these, wear them over leggings with a long tee and a chunky knit for a stylish winter look
  • Blanket Wrap Scarf - these are everywhere at the moment with Katies and Millers having some of the most stylish
  • Fedora - I'm still looking for one that fits me!
  • Leather Jacket - or a great pleather alternative.  Have a look in Spoil Yourself for their fur collar version.
  • Cashmere Sweater - an investment piece but you'll wear it forever.
  • Statement Coat - Rockmans has nailed this, with leather sleeved versions and oilcloth jackets
  • Knitted Jumper Dress - more flattering than you might think and versatile over jeans too.  Try Susanne Grae.
  • Turtleneck Top - Des confided that the one piece everyone chose from his wardrobe was a fine knit grey turtleneck from Millers!
  • Ankle Boots - Target, Betts, and many more have some fabulously priced ones at the moment.
