The Nostalgia Box - A Review of RetroGaming in Perth!

the Nostalgia Box - Perth Retro Gaming

Picture this....

It's the last couple of days of the school holidays.  Playdates have been played.  Cupcakes have been baked.  Roller skating has been skated - we have the blisters to prove it.  And what happens?  It decides to chuck it down with rain for 48 hours straight. We can't possibly stay home for that length of time without at least one of the kids going stir crazy.

When your kids are the age of mine (Miss 7, Miss 10 and Mr 11) there are limited indoor activities that are going to be keep them busy.  We've grown out of indoor play centres, ice skating is just too wet and we'd already roller-skated twice this break.

So when Nostalgia Box asked if we'd like to come and check out their awesome selection of retro games, how could we say no?  It may've been me that was a little over excited as we arrived (in torrential rain!) at the Northbridge museum, but it didn't take long for the kids to get into Mortal Combat battles and PacMan challenges.

I was keen to check out the huge range of retro gaming machines they had - I recognised so many from my yoof.  Jessie, the self anointed Guardian of Nostalgia Box is a wealth of knowledge of the retro games (tip: if there's a game you particularly want to play, don't forget to ask if she has it behind the counter - I totally missed out on an epic round of Asteroids for not knowing this!).

Nostalgia Box is open from 9.30am and only costs $14 for adults and $10 for concessions, or $40 for a family of four.  You can stay and play all day.  I had to drag Miss 7 away from Pong - she had an uncanny knack for always having her paddle in the right spot...very weird.

You can bring along all your nerdy mates for a trip along memory lane and you can hire Nostalgia Box for kids' parties too.

We had an awesome morning at Nostalgia Box and I'll be taking hubby along next time to whoop his ass on Pong - that's if I can beat Miss 7 first....

  2. That is so cool! I used to love the arcade tables that had pack an and you satin either side. I spent many years playing Mario against my brothers too so I would def have a crack at any Mario game.
