Ikea Make Up Storage Hacks for Under $6

Ikea Make Up Storage Cheap

My make up corner in the bathroom has been driving me ker-azy for ages now.  I've got boxes and bags of the stuff squirrelled away in my bathroom cabinet and in the kids' bathroom, which means I only ever use the same products over and over.

My current storage situation is a plastic tool tray which was great when I first had it but over the years it's got difficult to manage as it only has 2 sections.

Check out the current mess below.

So, I hot footed it to IKEA this weekend which is the only place to start for storage as far as I'm concerned.  After a couple of tours around the entire store and a pit stop for double choc sundaes, I settled on the STODJA cutlery trays at a princely sum of $2.95 each.  Having not measured the size space I had on the vanity, I splashed out and bought a couple!

As they're a cutlery tray they have different sized compartments which is perfect for different sized make-up.  The largest square section is exactly the length of an Urban Decay Naked Palette - go figure!

Naturally, they didn't fit side my side, so I figured I could cut one in half - it worked!

Please revel in the beauty of my new make-up storage below - a place for everything and everything in its place.  Oh, it makes me happy just to look at it.

How do you store your make up? (Oh, and if you liked this post, check out my other latest beauty post on how to get HD Brows at home - you're gonna love it!)

  1. IKEA really is the best for storage solutions! I always find what I'm looking for AND more when I go there!

  2. This is an awesome idea! I need to do some major cupboard tidying. My bathroom and kitchen cupboards are in dire straits.

  3. Ooh I like it! I can't wait until they finish building the new Ikea near me. I don't wear makeup but I have a lot of areas that could use similar organisation.

  4. Fabulous! I have a bathroom cabinet to myself but my collection is outgrowing it - plus it's too shallow and the shelves are stupid heights. Clearly the woman who lived there beforehand didn't wear much makeup, witness also the yellow downlight straight above the mirror!!
