Great Movies About Fashion That You Need to Watch

Since coming back from Bali, we've watched, um, quite a few movies at home (and at the cinema actually - have you seen Daddy's Home?  One of the funniest "laugh out loud" movies I've seen for ages!).  This is basically because I don't want the kids to be hiding in the games room playing Minecraft all day when it's too hot to go outside.  So we put on a movie and watch it together.

It got me thinking that there are quite a few fabulous movies about my favourite subject out there that if you haven't seen, you need to get on it, pronto.

These are my top fashun movies of all time.

The Dressmaker (2015) - this movie was not what I was expecting.  At all.  Tilly Dunnage (brilliantly portrayed by Kate Winslet) is a supremely talented dressmaker that goes back to her home town to try and fix her past.  You will laugh a lot, and probably cry, too.(Kids over 7 would be fine with this)

Iris (2015)- "I didn't give a damn about being at the party, or going to the party, just getting dressed for the party" - can you relate to that?!  An amazing film about an amazing woman, Iris Apfel, who continues to inspire pretty much everyone she meets.  A bit of a tear jerker if you're a sook like me, but definitely worth a watch (Kid friendly)

Dior and I (2014) - I had the pleasure of watching this at an open air cinema in King's Park when it was released.  There's something memorable about watching a film outdoors, sipping champagne.  This documentary follows the story of Raf Simons' first haute couture collection for Dior.  An amazing behind the scenes peek into a world so far removed from yours or mine, it makes a fascinating watch. (Kid friendly)

The Devil Wears Prada (2006) - you must have already seen this, but surely it's time for a re-run?  Anne Hathaways plays the assistant to a frankly Faustian magazine editor and feels the wrath of fashion at every turn.  A classic! (Kid friendly)

Zoolander (2001) - Ben Stiller plays the most ridiculously narcissistic male model imaginable, trumped only by the pouting Owen Wilson.  My kids love this film and eagerly await the return of Derek this year!

Confessions of a Shopperholic (2009) - I avidly read this series of books by Sophie Kinsella all those years ago - perfect page-turning chick-lit.  The movie could've been a disappointment, but instead the casting of Isla Fisher as shopperholic Rebecca Bloomwood was perfect and the movie is fun and easy watching.  My girls watched this recently and loved it.

Advanced Style (2014) - oh this is a goodie!  It's an inspiring documentary full of amazing women, all proving that style doesn't have a sell by date.  Any age can watch this movie and feel heart warmed by these 7 fashionista sistas.  (Kid friendly)

What movies have you watched recently, and can you add any good fashion movies to my list?
