Happy Birthday, Ocean Keys!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the VIP fashion show at Ocean Keys Shopping Centre.  The show was the icing on the cake of a 12 hour shopping extravaganza to celebrate the centre's first birthday of its $108 million redevelopment.

The tickets sold out in record time with proceeds going to Princess Margaret Hospital.  We sipped champagne and enjoyed canapes as we watched the runway show, which was styled and produced by Des Eddy of Naked Productions, who I've worked with previously on Restyle for Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.  What I love about Des is that he has the ability to work at all ends of the fashion spectrum, and the runway certainly didn't disappoint at Ocean Keys.

I was thrilled to see that they'd decided to use models in a variety of sizes, ranging from a petite size 8, through to a gorgeous size 14.  Being at the curvier end of the market, it's really nice to see clothes on women more my shape.  We all have parts of us that we don't like, and sometimes that deters us from trying on certain styles in store.  Seeing women of different shapes and sizes on the runway is an inspiration to try out new styles, and that's what I love about these kind of shows.

Ocean Keys hosts a variety of family friendly events throughout the year, and I can't wait for Santa's arrival on the 28th November - I'm such a sucker for Christmas!

If you haven't already, download the Ocean Keys App from the Apple Store, which has all the details of upcoming events and a map too (which is really useful now that the centre is so big!).

What do you think about having different sized models on the runway?

  1. I might need you to give me a tour of Ocean Keys and I might just start my Christmas shopping here.

I love getting comments!
