Spring Racing Style - Accessorising from the Ground Up

You know the drill.  Fascinators and clutch bags at the ready - Spring Racing season is nearly here.  You can almost feel the excitement coursing through those high heels....which are now stuck in the mud and ruined forever.

Of course you can't wear flats with your racing style, it just wouldn't be right, so what's a girl to do?  Well, if your event is more of the indoor type, such as watching the Melbourne Cup in a swanky restaurant, then heels are the only way to go.  But, if you are actually watching those horses for real, then, racing queens, then you'll need my bit of inside information.  More of that later.

Zamora Shoes imports the hottest heels from around the globe and are based here in Perth.  Natasha, the owner, is passionate about shoes and as such her picks are on trend, unique and utterly divine.

I've chosen my top five pairs of heels from Zamora, all perfect for the Spring Racing Season, and all a statement in themselves.  You could wear these babies with a simple LBD and still look totally ready for your big event.

First up are these Guszel Combat heels - the mix of bright colours is perfect for a bit of pattern clashing and check out that orange sole!  $229
The Guszel Nautical is a fabulous mix of navy, white and neutral, perfect if you're thinking of channelling a resort wear style for your Spring Racing outfit. $229

Another great statement heel, but this time in neutral and monochrome hues is the Meili Polka.  This shoe would be ideal for wearing with a simple black shift. $229

The Jolie Combat heel is another great statement shoe if you want a slightly lower heel.  A funky camouflage print with highlights of fuchsia make this shoe a real talking point. $209

My final pick are these eye popping Dot heels.  Can you image how amazing these would look with a vintage style monochrome dress? $189

And if you're worried about that sinking feeling when you're out in the paddocks, check out these little babies.  Stiletto Stoppers protect your heels from damage when you're on the grass and come in clear or black to match your shoes.  I'm totally sold on this product, what a great idea!

Of course, accessorising doesn't stop with the shoes.  A perfect clutch is the ideal handbag for a racing event, and Jessica Bratich has your back on this one.  The Alana Clutch has been cleverly designed to make it ideal for use at racing events.  With lipstick and pen holders, and a little card pocket too, it is great for keeping all your race tickets (and your winnings!) in.  And when you find your hands are just to busy with champagne and canap├ęs, you can use the chain shoulder strap.  Coming in black and a divine baby pink, this clutch is a great buy at $74.95.

If you want to check out these shoes and bags in the flesh, then make sure you join me at Jonte's Event Ready afternoon on 31st October.  I'll be running two style sessions, with the first one focussed on looking fabulous for Spring Racing at 12 o clock.  If you'd like to be on our guest list, just drop me an email at vicki@vickithompsonstylist.com.au.  It's going to be a fun afternoon, filled with amazing fashion, giveaways and much, much more.

Do you have your Spring Racing accessories sorted yet?

  1. I love them all but I think the height of the Jolie Combat is more my style these days.
