Katies Styling Event, featuring me!

I've been loving Katies take on style over the past couple of years - I'll be honest that when I first arrived in Australia five years ago, it wasn't on my fashion radar.  However, someone behind the scenes has been working some serious magic as their seasonal collections keep getting better and better.

Katies asked me recently to host a VIP evening at their store in Westfield Carousel - I was in good company with Nikki Parkinson and Kathy Sheeran both hosting them on the East Coast.

The thing I'm loving about Katies is that they have a talent for translating high fashion trends into wearable designs for everyone.  I popped into my local store to style my outfit for the evening, and a shopper thought it looked so fabulous that she immediatley went to try on the same pieces and bought the same outfit!

Their clothes are great quality and a price point which makes them really affordable, too.  Katies understand that women have to work, or be a mum, or whatever wearing their clothes.  If you haven't checked them out recently you'll find a great range of up to the minute items (and some seriously good basics) in a range of sizes from 8 to 20.

You'll also find some great accessories to finish off your look (their new jewellery range, Love K, has some lovely statement pieces this season).

You're going to love their new cotton range, which is seriously soft to the touch and delightful to wear.

Here's the outfit that I wore to the event.  I feel in love with the tulip sleeves of the top and the pants seriously felt like I was wearing my PJs.

The trends that I talked about to the VIP guests at Westfield Carousel where the "white" and "70's boho", both of which Katies have in abundance.

These are my picks for both trends, all available online at Katies, or in-store.

Top tips for making this trend wearable

Don't wear it from head to toe if you have filthy kids like me.

Wear with denim, or stripes for a fresh warm weather look.

Wear with a pop of citrus to add interest.

Keep your whites fresh by washing them separately (I need to follow my own advice on this!).

Top tips for making the trend wearable

Don't panic if you wore the trend in the 90's (or the 70s!)

Don't wear it head to toe or it looks too contrived.

Pick a piece or two that will work with lots of pieces already in your closet.

A tunic shape top is a great addition to a summer wardrobe.

PEASANT TOP, $49.95*

  1. I don't mind that 70s boho top. I might need to head back in. Really love my new vest, it's been on my must buy list for a little while, I just needed to find the right one.

  2. Look at you girl. Amazing! They couldn't have chosen a better lady! Love that bright red, it's stunning!

  3. You looked absolutely awesome. Love that red tulip sleeve top on you. The idea of a tulip sleeve, which I've not heard of before, is great for those of us who are not too keen on their upper arms anymore. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the event in the end, I really wanted to be there. I'm sure you were an absolute star, and I hope it leads you onwards and upwards.

I love getting comments!
