How to create the Perfect Spring/Summer Capsule Wardrobe

It's really warming up isn't it?  Have you packed away all your winter clothes now?  I did this, last weekend, as they take up such a lot of room in your closet.  I'm glad to see the back of them, and looking forward to wearing some fresh threads now it's warmer.

I've been working closely with Ocean Keys Shopping Centre over the past few weeks to put together the ultimate in easy dressing for this Spring and Summer.  We all know how busy life gets, and as a mum, it's easy to put yourself last on the list.  With the great range of accessible and affordable fashion available at Ocean Keys, there is no excuse to not look your best all of the time, without spending a fortune.

All of the items I'm featuring in my capsule closet were found in the past couple of weeks at Ocean Keys, so you can score them in store now.  I've put together six easy to follow tips to steer you in the right direction this season, along with a list of items I bought for my capsule wardrobe.

ONE - You don't have to choose just one base colour - my capsule closet is made up of grey, navy, and white.  All of these colours work together so there's no reason why you need to chose just one base colour.

TWO - Choose breathable fabrics, ideally based around cotton to get maximum wear out of the pieces once the weather really starts to heat up.

THREE - A pair of white jeans is super on trend this season, and are surprisingly easy to wear.  Team with a stripe tee for the ultimate fresh look or layer a shirt dress over the top.  Don't be scared if your legs are less than perfect, they are incredibly flattering.  Make sure you choose a pair that show your ankle bone, the slimmest part of your leg.

FOUR - A striped t-shirt dress is such a versatile piece.  I'll be wearing mine from Target with the great sleeveless bomber from Ally or the sleeveless khaki longline shirt which is also from Target.

FIVE - Accessories are not optional - they completely change the look of an outfit.  The simplest tee and jeans is made great with a statement necklace or a cool hat.  A great scarf lifts an outfit to the next level, too. (EXTRA TIP-if you have thick hair like mine, check out the menswear section for hats - this straw trilby was found in Kmart for $7)

SIX - For a busy mum on the go, a backpack really is a no-brainer.  It leaves you hands free and has the benefit of being on trend for the past couple of season.  I chose one from Rockmans that was just $39.99.

SEVEN - Flats aren't always necessary.  I know we all live our lives at high speed, so ballet flats or sneakers are often our go-to choose of footwear.  However these almost platforms/flatforms from Kmart are crazy comfortable and a steal at $20.

  1. I love that hat Vicki! I also have a gigantic head so finding something that fits is always a challenge. I'll have to check out the men's section next time I'm in Kmart! (Love the styling of these pics as well!) xx

I love getting comments!
