Fashionomics Friday Featured Fashionista - Suger Coat It

I've got such a treat for you today - our featured fashionista is Melissa from Aussie life and style blog, Suger Coat It.  Her blog is a melting pot overflowing with advice on how to style yourself, your life and your blog.  I could get lost there for hours!

Melissa is a woman with a huge sense of humour and a wicked sense of style.  She's my kindred spirit with her love of monochrome and stripes, too.

Head over to Suger Coat It to check out her unique take on life and style.

1. Spend or Splurge.  Where do you save money and what do you "go large" on?

I don't own a lot of expensive items, though I guess a lot of the pieces I own from Australian designers might classify as expensive to some. I like to buy quality in jeans, jackets, work clothes (suiting, skirts and pants) and when I can find them, shoes. They are the items I need to survive my life and the rest fits in between.

2. Cost per wear.  Have you bought a really expensive piece but got lots of wear out of it?

I think cost per wear HAS to be a factor in the decision. But you can't let it trick you into buying something completely impractical. Like say, a sequin peplum skirt and top combo in pink. Sure I love it, I've even loaned it out a few times, but I've never worn it. Cost per wear can be something you trick yourself with sometimes too. That said, good quality boots though, well that's a different story.

3. Thrift or not - do you love a good op-shopping session?

I've never had much success with op-shopping. I did steal a few of my Mum's old jackets. I count that as a win.

4. Do you have any "secret shops" that you'd like to share with us?

It's no secret that I love Australian brand 17 Sundays. I feel like I saw their clothes loved them then I stalked the owners until I was proud to call them my friends. So yes, my secrets are all out there for everyone to see.

5. What is your best piece of Fashionomics advice to give?

I give a lot of advice in my Budget Fashionista Workbook *coughPLUGcough* about knowing what you have, knowing what you like and then knowing where to buy them. I think the easiest way to be frugal with your closet is to know your style and buy well in the first place.

You can find Melissa hanging out on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, too. And if you're a Pinner, check out her Pinterest feed too.

If you're a blogger with a passion for dressing fashionomically, I'd love to hear from you!

I'm definitely gonna share this little bigger of wisdom around social media Melissa. Vicki, I added a post that isn't technically about an outfit bargain but the whole outfit is $50 including shoes! Thanks for the link up. Bron x
