Outfit Post - Distressed Jeans and Stripes

This is probably my favourite combo ever - comfortable, distressed jeans and a striped top of some sort.  If I had a uniform (and I probably do to an extent - more about this in coming weeks) this would be it.  I'm rarely seen without stripes, a bit like a zebra....

I'm attempted to control my hair and my clothes on my very windy roof terrace, so please excuse the rather random faces I'm pulling!

A few readers have asked me how I put outfits together so I figured it would be useful to have a "why does it work section on the outfit posts that I do.  So here goes.

Why does it work?
*The volume of the tunic and waistcoat are balanced out by the skinny jeans*
*The cut of the waistcoat serves to lengthen my body and the open lapels streamline my torso*
*The long necklace draws the eyes down reversing the result of the horizontal stripes*
*The flash of skin at the knee and with the peep toe sandals keep the look young and fresh*

Have a great weekend everyone.  I'll be sharing more outfits and why they work in weeks to come.

  2. Love this look on you. I went hunting for those shoes at Target but they were sold out in my size. You've just reminded me to try online.
