Fashionomics Friday Featured Fashionista - Agent Mystery Case

Guess who's back?  Back again?  Fashionomics is back, tell a friend.

Fashionomics Friday is back and our featured fashionista this week is none other than the enigmatic Raychael from Agent Mystery Case.

Raychael is a bit of a blogging phenomonen in Perth - a self confessed niche-less blogger with more ideas than she has jackets (and she has a LOT of jackets), Raychael is a veritable bottomless pit of ideas and inspiration.

1. Spend or Splurge.  Where do you save money and what do you "go large" on?

I know it probably doesn't look like it, going on my online antics, but I'm rather frugal when it comes to spending money. We work hard for our money and time really is money to me, so I like to make my money go a long way.

There are some areas I refuse to scrimp in and fashion really isn't one of them. It's a rather rare occurrence if I purchase retail at full price, even classic pieces that I know will get a lot of wear and last the distance are all purchased on SALE.

Sometimes waiting for an item, means I miss out but when I do score a bargain, it makes it all worth it. Like my $170 trench coat from SEED. When I tried it on I knew I had to have it but I waited and managed to score it for $36 in their outlet sale. It was a long wait but well worth it.

The beautiful and bargainous Seed Heritage trench in action.

2. Cost per wear.  Have you bought a really expensive piece but got lots of wear out of it?

I purchased an entire wardrobe of expensive pieces when I first started working 28 years ago and then lived in them with the occasional added accessory or seasonal staple for the next five years. They all got a lot of wear and funnily enough, I actually went an entire six months not wearing the same look twice. If only Instagram and #everydaystyle challenges were around back then.

3. Thrift or not - do you love a good op-shopping session?

I use to love thrifting. It's a great way to save and to find those eclectic pieces that really add substance and a bit of character to your wardrobe. Since moving to Perth though, I haven't really found my op shopping mojo.

On my last op shopping misadventure I found a pair of new shoes that I adored only to find they were $60. At an op shop. I'd never heard of the label and half expected to find they were out of a celebs wardrobe for that price. They weren't.

My best buy over the years, was a gorgeous Louis Vuitton trench coat for just $2!

4. Do you have any "secret shops" that you'd like to share with us?

As far as shopping goes, if I need a quick fix for an event out and I'm needing to stick to a strict budget, I tend to head to Bijoux Belle at Floreat. Everything in the store is just $20. They stock just about everything from clothing to jewellery and a lot more in between and there is a little something for just about everyone. Why you could possibly pull together a complete outfit for $100. Now there's an interesting idea for our next challenge!

5. What is your best piece of Fashionomics advice to give?

Make sure your wardrobe is working for you and not against you and seek help if you need it. It will save you time, money and a whole lot of stress in the long run.

I always have 'I have nothing to wear' moments, even though my wardrobe is full to overflowing. The thing is it's also chaotic and is in urgent need of attention. I tend to give my wardrobe a mini makeover each season but I still manage to fall back into my old chaotic ways.

I'm determined not to add to the chaos and make the most of what I've already got, which is why I will definitely be employing your style services, starting with a wardrobe audit.

Competition Time!

#findingmystyle

Remember my recent style challenge with Agent Mystery Case - the one were we had fun and giggles styling a $50 outfit at Westfield Innaloo?  Well, the competition goes Australia wide today over at AMC.  There's even more fun to be had with TWO prizes up for grabs this time.

1.  The Outfit under $50 Challenge is hosted over at Agent Mystery Case, so get styling and head over there to link up your "outfit under $50" to be in with a chance to win a $50 Westfield voucher.

2. Link up a recent post, sharing your style, here on Fashionomics Friday to be in the draw for a bonus mystery prize.

And I'm sure you've already guessed but if you link up on both blogs you've doubled your chances. Everyone that links up before the end of July is in with a chance to win!

Link up now!

The Fashionomics Friday link up is for anyone that's posted recently about their fabulous fashion finds, particularly if you scored a bargain.  If you've done a shopping post, I'd love to see that too.

  1. I probably should confess at this point why my expensive wardrobe only lasted 5 years. Cue hubby and his attempt to impress me by washing and drying all my clothing while I was doing over time one weekend. They shrunk and were only suitable for a barbie doll.
