A Very Wet Wishlist Wednesday

Perth weather cracks me up entirely.  Every winter, as we desperately try to keep warm in our uninsulated, single glazed, un-central heated homes, we pray for summer days and sunshine.  And then suddenly, WHAM!, it's hot and sunny and that's that.  The onset of winter is just the same. Last week is was glorious and 30 degrees - today it is wetter than a haddock's bikini.

So, of course, in weather like this, my mind turns to boots, and coats.  And hats.  But I'm not talking about hats today because they make me angry.  I'm going to save that rant for another day.  Today, I'm going to share my pick of the nicest ankle boots that I've seen so far this season.

To make my list they have to be the following:

  • not too high so they can be worn during the day (now that I stand up all day at work, I understand the importance of a decent size heel.  Too flat equals backache, and too high equals sore tootsies).
  • include a little bit of new season loveliness without being a one season wonder
  • under $100
Dakota Boot, StyleTread $59* (yes, you read that right!)
These made my heart skip a beat - how fabulous is that half coated heel? They look the perfect height for every day wear and you can wear a tan boot with pretty much anything!

West Boot, Betts, reduced to $44.95.  I love the western styling of these boots and they'd look fabulous with skinny jeans and a big blanket scarf in this cold weather.

Hydee Boot, Novo Shoes, $69.95
The perfect school run boot - keeps you out of the puddles but you can still move fast in them for when the kids run off without you!

Jessica Buckle Ankle Boots, The Iconic $59.95*
The masculine styling of these boots caught my eye.  They'd work with any kind of jean, or leggings but particularly good for when you're rocking a blazer and your husband's shirt.

River Island Red Chelsea Brogue Boot, ASOS, $79.95
These are my marmite item - you either love them or hate them.  I'm totally in awe of the beautiful cherry red colour, they remind me of a pair of loafers I had in the early 90's.

What kind of ankle boot do you have on your radar this season?

  1. OMG, you've just reminded me that I purchased a number of boots in the sales and they are hidden away somewhere waiting for winter. Just need to work out where and get some scotch guard to protect them from the weather.

  3. I just brought these great ones from Cotton On in Grey- with discount codes they only cost me $33! They have two zips with decorative mesh panels on each side so you can widen them for pants or bigger ankles, and they come in black, grey, black suede or brown suede. Love them! http://cottonon.com/AU/p/cotton-on-women/sandy-zip-boot/2024509803366.html#q=sandy&start=1

  4. I picked up two pairs of ankle boots last season that hardly got much wear because of my swollen pregnant cankles. I don't think I will be needing any more this season but I won't say never! I love the first pair. That heel is gorgeous!

  7. I was just thinking of new ankle boots today! I love your number 1 pick - so much classic goodness. I will put them on my list. I also quite like the idea of a heeled tan boot...the research continues. P.S. I am in Sydney and we got ducted heating installed last year. We only use it for about 3 months but it is THE BEST ever. Bring on winter :)
