Five Super Easy Ways to Update your Summer Classics for under $50

If you're anything like me, you have certain items in your wardrobe that you pull out year after year that you know will always make you feel fabulous - a great maxi, a well fitting shirt or maybe a funky pair of printed pants. As fab as these items are, you can soon end up wearing them in the same way, and with the same old shoes and accessories.

I've come up with five cheap and easy ways to update your classic pieces with some on trend items, all for under $50 a pop.  Enjoy!

The Tassel Necklace.  I'm having a bit of a love affair with all things tasselled at the moment (did you see the beautiful necklace from Jet Empire with the silver tassel?). A long, brightly coloured tasselled necklace is the perfect foil for a plain shirt or a tee. Layer them up or choose a super bright and wear just one.

Double sided stud earrings.  We can thank Chanel for the resurgence of all things pearl this season and this type of stud earring is becoming one of the most popular around.  They are most often seen in pearls of varying colours and I was lucky enough to be gifted a couple of pairs from Tania Claire Australia.  I've worn them lots and get frequent questions on how they work and "aren't they cool".

Big Lightweight scarf.  Just because its summer it doesn't mean you have to pack away your scarves.  A lightweight cotton or chiffon scarf is the perfect accessory with a host of uses.

  • Throw it around your shoulders when the sun gets too hot or the cool breeze picks up.

  • Pack it for the beach and use it as a sarong.

  • Use it to wrap your hair or as a hairband and channel your inner boho.

  • Wear it belted a la Olivia Palermo.

Metallic Slides. The most upto date shoe for summer this year and the most comfortable, too.  Perfect with shorts and dresses and really practical for shlepping down to the beach.  You can find these at every price point and the metallic look showcases your tanned tootsies and your pedicure perfectly.

A statement bracelet.  When the weather heats up, all bets are off when it comes to looking fantastic.  The make-up routine gets minimised and the clothes get simpler.  A super easy way, though, to update your everyday cut-offs and tees is with a statement bracelet.  No fuss, no hassle.

Y'all know what a huge fan of Jet Empire Jewellery I am and if I'm honest, one of their bracelets is most definitely on my Christmas list.  They have a fabulous selection all priced at $45 in every colour you can imagine.  Layer them up for a boho look or wear them on their own.
