DIY || Day 14 of Restyle2014

Oh, how I laughed when I read today's prompt.  DIY?  More like WTF.  I am not the most crafty person.  I have a sewing machine that has only been used once to hem a curtain.  And even that was wonky.

I love the idea of making my own clothes and altering stuff but it just seems like such a lot of hassle.  Amy, over at Smudge Blog, is so fabulous at making her own things that I really just want to hide in a corner until today's prompt is done and DIY'd.

Amy, the clever little minx at Smudge blog made this!! All on her own.  Wow.

I did cut the sleeves out of a men's jacket fairly successfully for Day 8, but that took hours and I was so over it by the end!  I really wanted a simple, quick DIY job for today.

Anyway, I did a bit of googling, as you do and came up with the idea of making a necklace out of a t-shirt.  Perfect, thinks me.  Super easy, and they look bloody fab on Pinterest.....

I bet you have NO idea which is mine.......

 So, I gave up on that idea as mine was officially C.R.A.P.  And went off to search for something else.

I'd been admiring some embellished sunglasses recently.  They look super cool, but I probably couldn't justify purchasing them as I certainly wouldn't be wearing them everyday. ("Hey everyone!  Look at me with my sparkly sunnies on the school run!").

That was it!  I hotfooted it down to my local Salvos on the corner (such a bonus!) and grabbed a pair of white wayfarer style sunnies.  I then had a rummage through my jewellery to find some suitable sparkly jewels that I could attach.

 30 minutes, later, and only two fingers superglued together, this was the result!

Phew!  Glad today's prompt is over.  I'm much more at home in tomorrow's - monochrome.

PS.  I'd like to apologise for the overuse of exclamation marks today - I promise that no punctuation was harmed in the writing of this post.  I will not use any tomorrow.  Honest (!)

  1. Haha, such a funny post, as always, Vicki (I'd be going WTF at DIY too and you can never have too many exclamation marks!!!! <--- hehe). And I think you did a great job with the sunnies. Wear them to the beach when summer hits.
