Spend or Save? The Witchery Delilah Heel

Now, I'm pretty sure you're thinking that I have a bit of a shoe obsession going on right now.  I think you're probably right.  There are so many lovely new season shoes appearing on the high street that I'm like a Biggest Loser contestant at a pie eating competition (no offence intended, Biggest Losers, you are indeed all legends!).

Of course, we can't all be like that ginger girl over at Sea of Shoes and buy every damn shoe that we fall in love with, inciting envy/hatred/jealousy/admiration with every flick of her perfect locks.  Some of them have to be admired from a distance, fawned over, stroked and than gently bid farewell as we resign ourselves to the fact that they will never be in our lives.

BUT!!!!! Don't we just love it when we find an alternative?  A cheaper alternative??  A LOTS cheaper alternative?  (Over-punctuation is becoming a trademark on this blog and not in a good way).

Presenting the Witchery Delilah Heel for a not insignificant $169.95.  Apparently, it's a "country shoe with a difference".  I can't even imagine what that means.   Surely in the country we would all be wearing wellies?  Anyway, it has a leather upper, a padded footbed and a comfortable heel (really??).  I like its straight vamp and I like the cutaway internal edge.  I don't like the price, though.

Whilst mooching around K-Mart for kids' birthday presents today (in the ladies shoe aisle, of course!), I came upon these very similar looking heels.  They are not Doppelgangers, but they share more than a few common features AND they are $25 - so you can buy enough pairs to shoe an octopus and a half for the same price as the Delilahs, should you so wish.

They are not leather, of course, but I can attest to them being comfortable and wide enough so that you're feet don't splay out of the D'Orsay style sides.

What do you think?  Would you Spend or Save?

  1. Oooh, as I very rarely wear heels, it would have to be SAVE baby SAVE on this one!

  3. go the save - you can't have the Witchery ones because they are very "pythonish" and you already have a pair of animal print pumps, and by the end of July we will all be so sick of animal that you will kick yourself for spending so much on them.
The Kmart ones, however, are more monochromatic/polka dotty/geo, which will work really well with everything - they're almost a neutral!

  4. I'd go the Witchery heels, leather classic style, they're gorgeous! In my experience synthetic heels are like wearing razor blades!

  6. Interesting, I have a few pairs of both, but to be fair, never wear them for prolonged periods. I do agree that some synthetic shoes feel like torture instruments!

  7. You're right of course, they are pretty neutral - great enabling, K!

  8. Such a great find! If my budget allows, leather would always be my first choice for shoes.
Over the years I have put my feet through hell - these days I try to be a little kinder to them...although my Witchery sparkly jelly shoes were cheap and comfortable - so who knows? xx

  9. I'm a spender! I always buy leather shoes especially because I love heels so the more comfortable the better. Those Witchery heels are divine! x

  10. Oh this is a tricky one! On the one hand, well made leather shoes can last years and cost less per wear. On the other, $25 for a great rip off is hard to resist. Hmmm maybe a save on this one, by a hair! x
